Tackle Football. OH I hate this sport.
So the twins signed up for football this last fall. That is not a cheap sport by the way. It was a very expensive trial run since next year if they choose to play, the school provides all their gear. So we bought all their "stuff" for both the boys this year and as it turned out one boy LOVED it and the other about went crazy and bailed out 1 week into practices. I don't blame him. They were practicing in 102 degree weather. He hated the pads, the helmet, aggressive contact with other (sweaty) people, getting hurt, hurting others, the entire thing was just WAY too much. SO. You cut you loses and move on. The good news is that the other twin, Tyler LOVED it. He is such a hard worker and high achiever he flourished, even though he had never played before and was basically the only one who hadn't.
I must admit I am not too fond of the sport. I would be just fine if he decided he didn't love it anymore. It is tough, dirty and mean. My worst memory of this past season was Tyler going in for a tackle, the next thing I could see was him laying on the ground, helmet popped off and not moving. It took everything I had not to fully unzip roaring mama-bear and run out there on the field with him. Oh MY! I hate this sport. After a few minutes I could see his feet moving. I probably looked like I needed to pee real bad because I could not stop moving. When he came over to me with tears in him eyes and blood dripping down his neck from a gnash on his chin, I swore we were finished, BUT he loves it so we carried on and I still stand on the sidelines as a screaming with excitement, proud, suspense ridden and very nervous mother. Quite a seen I am sure. Such sweet boys too. There is nothing cuter than seeing a group of young boy working hard, playing hard and being good kids. I really became quite fond of so many of his teammates, sweet kids turning quickly into young men. Learning who they are, discovering their gifts and talents and drawing the line on their tolerances. It is really fun to watch. Goll, I love having boys.
