What is the More Good Foundation? (From the MGF website)
"The More Good Foundation is committed to helping faithful Mormons share their stories with the world, and then helping the world find those stories quickly and easily. As a people we have positive, powerful stories to tell--and that "telling" is important. We don't believe in hiding our candle under a bushel, and the Internet provides a way for us to collectively hold our candles up, providing light to all and helping them see what that light helps us to see."Elder Ballard has been very influential in inspiring many to spread the word using all kind of mediums, certainly the internet is a very effective and influential tool. "Conversations will continue whether or not we choose to participate in them. But we cannot stand on the sidelines while others, including our critics, attempt to define what the Church teaches. ..." Elder Russell M. Ballard
"The name More Good Foundation has its roots in a statement made by Joseph Smith in a letter to the editor of the Times and Seasons newspaper, in which he explained that the literal translation of the word Mormon means "more good." (See Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pages 299-300.) This concept was elaborated on by Gordon B. Hinckley in an October 1990 address entitled "Mormon Should Mean 'More Good'"."
There are countless individuals/organizations that are antagonistic towards the LDS church, portraying our beliefs inaccurately and sadly with a great deal of contempt. It is understood, there will be opposition in all things but I can not help but feel that this opposition clearly proves it correctness, seem obvious.
Vaughn J. Featherstone says "The season of the world before us will be like no other in the history of mankind. Satan will unleash every evil scheme, every vile perversion ever known to man in any generation. Just as this dispensation of the fulness of times brought the restoration of all that is good and holy, so also did it bring the fulness of evil. As parents, spouses, children, and members of Christ's church, we must find safety. Unfortunately, many will struggle mightily before recognizing this bitter truth: there is no safety in this world—wealth cannot provide it, enforcement agencies cannot ensure it, even membership in the Church will not guarantee it., "The Incomparable Christ: Our Master and Model" [Salt Lake City: Deseret Book Co., 1995], 4 - 5.)The More Good Foundation has a clear focus in providing balance out there in the world of information and is motivated by sharing the truth. If someone really wanted to know what the LDS faith really was like or what they believed, all they need to do is look here or here to here name just a few. Here is a listing of all the MGF websites that they own and operate in their efforts to spread correct information about the LDS church. I just love what they are doing and feel very blessed to be in association. Everyone that contributes pieces to the foundation or their sites are done so on a volunteer basis and strictly motivated by the same focus to share the gospel. It is really remarkable!
The gospel is infectious. The truth will prevail and the strong ones will hold their ground and will continue to bear solemn testimony with "unflinching resolve" that this is the true gospel and Jesus Christ and what is even more powerful is what this gospel does for people. There is no other means by which one can achieve the same level of peace, happiness and joy that can be partaken of by feasting on the word of our Savior Jesus Christ.... AND the only way to KNOW that, is to (choose to) sit down and feast, not nibble or sample but feast until you can feast no more. Then you will know.
Thank you More Good Foundation for the opportunity to join with you in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. My life is very busy like many of yours, so my time is limited but this is a worthwhile endeavor all under the umbrella of missionary work and service! It may just be a tiny little bleep on the radar but it is "something" and by small and simple things are great things brought to pass.
"...the people began to be astonished, seeing there was more than one witness who testified..." (Alma 10:12)
