THANKFUL Thursday

I am stepping out of my box just a little to express my gratitude to my parents. Ben and I have been taking a parenting class through church and we have been talking a lot about our parents and what they either did or didn't do when we were children and the effects that has on us now and the way WE parent our children today. It has been really enlightening and though we ALL do things wrong... (I cringe to think what my kids will say about me when they are grown), there is so much they did do right. I love them all very much! I am forever indebted to them for WHAT THEY DID GIVE me, my life. My father Ted, died the day before my junior year in High School began and I was very close with him and miss him dearly.

Dad
1) I am grateful for my dad for holding my hand so tight to would leave marks and for never ceasing to show affection.
2) I am grateful my dad loved his only daughter like there was no end.
3) I am grateful my dad was funny.
4) I am grateful my dad was intuitive and smart and wrote neat things the books he wrote.
5) I am grateful my dad was passionate. Passionate about so many things in life and I am grateful I got that trait from him.

Mom
1) I am grateful she calls me sometimes, it makes my day!
2) I am grateful for her head rubs.
3) I am grateful for her MANY talents and that she taught me to work hard and thorough.
4) I am grateful my mom loves her life now and is healthy enough to enjoy it. .
5) I am grateful my mom has had trials and has taught me that you can overcome anything!

Garth Dad #2
1) I am grateful he loves my mom and gives her the attention she deserves.
2) I am grateful for his exceeding generosity.
3) I am grateful for his words of advice.
4) I am grateful for his example on how to work your tail off.
5) I am grateful he loves me.

What a great list -- such a good example to all of us. There is always something to appreciate, and I think I never give my parents enough credit. I loved reading your thoughts.

I remember when your dad was sick and then when he passed away. I can't imagine losing a parent when you are so young. It's made you a strong & passionate woman.

What a wonderful tribute to your parents. I would love to know more about your father - what took his life, what books he wrote.
