Beach to Bay in Corpus

This was so duper fun. This little group of friends ran the Beach to Bay relay marathon in Corpus Christi. We each took a 4-5 mile leg of the race and bam! there you go, a full marathon. Well.... things did not go that smoothly. As we were waiting for leg 1 runner to finish we saw the dark wretched rain clouds and gusts of wind and knew we were in for an adventure.  Basically from there is was crazy. Since we had already dropped off runner 2 and 3 by the time it had started to downpour, those 2 ladies are my hero because they ran in sheets and sheets of rain (I kid you not). By the time runner 3 was done we were still miles away stuck in stand still traffic, in theory we should have been there to pick #3 up and drop off #4 runner. In the meantime runner 2 decides it would be faster to run her way back to us rather than wait (in pouring rain) so she finally gets to us and attends to her nursing hungry baby while we inch along the road. Eventually we pick up runner 3 and decide to drop off runner 4 and 5 together just in case traffic was bad.. which it was so they ended up not only running their leg but 3 legs.... they are my heroes too, they ultimately ran a 1/2 marathon. I had the last leg of the race and it was a breeze. I loved it! Completely. I am not sure my awesome bionic team mates appreciated all my enthusiasm but I was the greeny after all so it was probably a good thing this was a good experience for me. I loved it. Super fun.

This was our "strategist" Andrea.. sorry andrea I had to post it... I love you. She was brilliant in figuring everything out. Had it not rained and poured it would have worked perfectly.

Love ya girls! Cant wait to do it next year!

Spring Soccer for the Twins

This was not the 1st choice league for soccer but we missed the deadline and had to take what was left. The twins had a good time and hopefully learned something useful. They are both good little soccer players and sweet boys!

Skate Park.... again

It is pretty sad when you go to the skate park frequently enough that you begin to recognize other kids and they you. This seems to be one of our favorite past times, if it were up to Tyler we'd be here everyday. For the most part kids are very courteous and respectful of the little kids and especially the mother hens like me that hover over make sure things stay in line. I am a totally believer in skate parks and am concerned that Austin lacks them. for being such a hip and cool city they should have more skate parks. When parks are properly managed in gives kids a safe place to go and be active.

Christmas... Home for the Holidays

Christmas was PICTURESQUE! We woke up to heavy snow and it didn't stop all day, still snowing when we went to bed. It was SO much fun, by night fall we had 8 inches. The boys were in Utah this year for Christmas and were missed terribly but we made the best of it and enjoyed the holiday differently this year and it was wonderful. Being that the babies are still quite young it was slim and was very nice. Although I have to say, prior to Christmas morning when the elf's are doing inventory, it always seems like Santa made a haul until you see it on the couch and you're like... "is that it?" Oh well, it is not about the presents anyway, well that is at least what I think. This year I told Ben that I didn't want "things", all I wanted was a love letter, he wasn't sure about that idea and replied "but I want presents", yep... still a kid. Anyway I got what I wanted at least, my sweet precious sugar bear wrote a long, juicy, involved love letter, he was a bit overdue and it was worth the wait, thanks love bug!

December brought the conclusion of the boys indoor soccer season, which their team quite frankly did terribly at, not because they didn't try nor their bad coaches (sorry Ben and Scott) but there are some really amazingly good soccer kids out there. I guess it does really pay off to start them early. They had fun anyway and they get an A+ for fighting hard.

Hope you all had a very memorable holiday! Hard to believe the year (2007) is gone and we are on to a new year and new adventures. Good luck to you all in the New Year, it is going to be a GREAT one!
Thanks Haley Smartie Pants for the "blog" lift, looks cute huh :)!!

Evan Green Belt Test

Just a quick note. Over the weekend Evan tested for his green belt in Tae Kwon Do. Watch closly... it happens fast! He had to break the board with the top of his foot this time rather than his fist or the ball of his foot. We are SO proud of him!
Have a very HAPPY Thanksgiving everyone!
