Hacking it Up Christmas Party

Party Harty Harr... This was a really fun Christmas party our good friends the Hackings had. It is a yearly event rich with traditions that involve a wild traveling wreath.


These silly fools clearly have never had a 25 dollar gift certificate to Home Depot before so to win the prize they had a ridiculous contest to see who could swallow the most "Liquid Stoopid" (hot sauce)... silly men.

Kylies Wedding and More

After Cousins Camp I went to Salt Lake where we bunked up with my brother Chris and his sweet family for a few days (Thanks Chris and Nat!!!!) before B flew in, at which point we then stayed in a hotel with my parents for the duration of our Utah stint. It was a really fun few days filled with wedding festivities. My niece Kylie was possibly THE MOST
beautiful bride I have EVER seen! OMGosh! And my sister was certainly the most beautiful mother of the bride I have ever seen!

Our hotel was at Thanksgiving Point where we walked the grounds with the kids and enjoyed our time together.



We were even able to squeeze away for one night to have a barbecue at my best friend Sheila's house with some good friends from our old neighborhood. Thanks Sheila and Paul, I love ya!

Bye Bye and Bye Bye Bunny

My Sweet friend Laura Dickman threw a going away party, a bit premature in lieu of us moving our move date back a month to July. Regardless is was a fun BBQ and good to spend some time with some great people.




While we were there, Laura found a baby bunny, one of many actually. For those that don't know bunnies are EVERYWHERE here in Parker. Anyway we thought it would be a fun thing to bring it home so the kids could see it. When we got home we showed the boys, played with it for a while and then stored it in a shoe box above our fridge. We all went too bed so excited to wake up in the morning to show Daidy and Sam. That next morning Tyler comes in saying the bunny was dead and Daidy had it in her hands. We ran down and after some strong interrogation we determined the poor bunny wiggled out of his box and fell steeply from the fridge to his certain death. It managed to hop a few feet onto the carpet and died which is where Daidy found it stiff and motionless. Not exactly the reaction we were hoping for but oh well.... we tried. Lesson learned?? Don't put baby bunnies on top of your fridge.

Good Friends are the Best!

We got together at the Lambs on Sunday to watch the Superbowl and it was a blast. Of course we were all intently watching to see Bens commercial and we were too busy eating and chatting we MISSED it! But that is ok because we have seen it 100 times since.

These are the best people! I am so grateful to have these smart, sweet, sincere and genuine friends. I mean, these are not women who just look cute on the outside and filled with pink fluff inside, these ladies have substance and depth and have their priortiies straight. I just can't say enough about how much I admire all these women and love our time together, they are all just as beautiful inside as they are out! Thanks for the fun night Amber and Matt!



We had a fairly sponantious "Girls Night Out". We went and saw "27 Dresses", which in my opinion, should without questions be a top contender for Best Picture at the Oscars this year...... well ok, if not Best Picture then definatly best Cinematography... not. But it was still fun and then afterwards we went to Chilis for dessert and chips and queso. It was so fun to be with these wonderful people! Thanks Ladies, I love you all and lets do it again soon!

Breckenridge, Bens Birthday & Best Friends

Trying so hard no to brag.... I just have to say, we just had the most fabulous weekend in Breckenridge with 5 other families. We rented a beautiful cabin, some went skiing, while the rest of us sat around, ate yummy food and walked the cute ski town of Breckenridge and saw ice sculptures. The adults played games at night, "Who, What, Where" (a hilarious charade game) one night until 2:30am and then the next night played "Mafia" until 1:00am, we giggled ourselves silly! Basically we had to call it a night because all our faces and cheeks hurt too bad. Evan said to me on Sunday morning... "you grownups don't have any respect... didn't you know we (the kids) were all trying to sleep?" He is so observant LOL:) The kids played games, played outside in the snow, went hot tubing, watched movies in the theater and the basement of this cabin had air hockey, pool table and Foosball so they had PLENTY to do.


It was Ben's Birthday on Sunday, he is the most special, sweet, gentle, funny, sugar face ever! I love him crazy like and am so grateful he was birthed, thanks Jolene! January 27th 1975 stands as a day in history that brought ME the greatest gift, EVER! I thank my Heavenly Father everyday to have him as mine forever and to be so happily united, he is a triumphant human being. Ok that is a different post, anyway we went sledding at a really great hill near the cabin. We just down right had a blast and I am so grateful to have been able to spend this splendid time with these wonderful families, SO DANG FUN!

Happy 10th Birthday Evan

It was Evan Meringues 10th birthday on Saturday, he invited some friends to come with us to Jungle Guest, an indoor adventure park (a little overrated but still fun). They all got harnessed up and climbed rock walls, went zippy on the zip line, swung from long ropes and had a blast. Afterwards we braved it at Sweet Tomatoes where the boys pigged out on all you can eat yummyness. We sure love our little Evan (not so little anymore) he is gentle, kind, loving affectionate and simple (in the good way). He is happy, mild mannered and eager to please. We are so grateful to have him, he is such a great kid!

2007 HURST Family Christmas Message

Dear Friends and Family

2007 has been a great year for us! We have settled in quite nicely here in Colorado. We have had the blessings of health, good business, loving family, great friends and a happy home. Our 5 yummy delicious children are growing up so fast; it is becoming increasingly painful to watch. For the older boys, Evan, Ryan and Tyler; gone are the days of Spiderman and Star Wars, and in are the days of skateboards and Ipods. We are savoring every minute with our sweet angel babies Daidy and Sam, because we know it will pass us by all too quickly.

For us… this year could be summed up in one word, “GRADITUDE”. Everyday we are so thankful to our Heavenly Father, for blessing us with so many gifts. We are mostly thankful for the splendid gift of having each other and for the restored gospel that shines a light in these darkening days. It is our prayer that for the coming year we will all have hearts filled with gratitude towards those we love and the experiences that this exciting life brings.

Sledding in Parker



Look VERY closely! Ben tried to slow the momentum of the sled so he put his heels down into the snow and gave Sammy a very cold bath. You can see Sammys little booties below all that snow. He had snow packed in his eye sockets and mouth, poor little baby!

SAMMY KNOCKED HIS TOOTH OUT! Poor little Sammy - He was playing with his sister in our leather chair last Thursday and fell over and knocked his #2 bottom tooth right out, root and all. It was SO sad! I had the split instinct to pop it back in but didn't, so now he will be toothless down there for the next 5 years. Poor little baby! He hasn't had the best of luck lately :)
