Cancun... Chichen Itza and Cenote

This was the ENTIRE crew. All 60 of us (minus 2 that were under the weather at the resort) in Chichen Itza, ancient Mayan ruins were recently with in the most recent few months) they found new buried ruins (picture below) on the outskirts of the main temple. It was so fascinating! These people were in the midst of a crumbling culture. At the end they were violent and gruesome but they were also brilliant mathematicians, astronomers, engineers etc. At one point they were so close to the truths and were clearly trying to remember the things they once knew about God, the Savior and the heavens. One thing that was absolutely fascinating to me was the engravings of the "mystery white bearded man" (picture below) Kukulcan. All the symbolism of the scaled and feathered serpents are very interesting. There is evidences that both the Nephites and Lamenites traveled here because of paintings that depict wars between both light and dark skinned people. So neat!

After Chichen Itza we went swimming at a cenote (sinkhole) that was amazing.  We had oh so much fun and my great brother Chris took some amazing photos of all the action.
