He has had chronic tonsillitis since he was a little baby. He had every symptom know to man (or kid) for the condition. He snored, was a mouth breather, had sleep apnea, a sleep walker, prone to strep and allergies, had extreme halitosis (bad breath)... and so on. So when we met with the ENT he barely had to look in his throat to see the considerable swelling and inflammation and said he was a "hands down candidate for this procedure" so we signed him up.
This was us hanging out before surgery killing time.
And off he goes...
After surgery the surgeon said his inflammation was sever and his adenoids were "impressive". He kept using the word "impressive" I finally had to ask what he meant by that. He said they were covered in "gunk... puss, mucus all kids of stuff". So to sum it up it was a great thing we did it. He went in to depth about warning us about the recovery and rough it would be. I guess I was still surprised how bad it really was! It was horrible bordering on sever. Because of the way they cut the the tonsils and adenoids out and not stitching them up, it leaves open wounds (think of how bad one cancer sour hurts) that bleed, scab up, slough off and repeats itself, that process is very painful. He was on narcotic pain medication for 2 weeks straight, even throughout the night and had a few days of terrible nausea and vomiting. It was awful but the end result has been worth it.
This sweet boys is now back to normal. He feels great, is happy, breaths better, sleeps better and even his breath is remarkably better, yeah!

poor little guy! that must have been rough on him, but that was probably worse on you to watch him go through it all. hope he's feeling better!
Poor little guy! Those tonsils are insane! My Camden was a changed boy after he got his out. He no longer thrashes around in the night & his behavior is MUCH better. Jason got his out this year, and LUCKY ME.. He NO longer snores! Tonsils are dumb.
That makes my throat hurt just thinking about it! He's such a cute boy.
So glad that it was worth it -- sounds like the price for him (and everyone else) was pretty high. It's nice to see a happy ending -- and happy Ryan!
