I have been focused lately on making my life more meaningful, in every area. A few months back I was telling someone why I blog and it occurred to me that I have never really known why. Besides the obvious fact that it is a great way to stay connected and it is my family "Scrapournal" =scrapbook+journal. My intentions are at the end of every year to publish our blog into a book for our families yearbook. I am a big journal keeper and have many volumes for many different reasons, 15 to be exact BUT I do not scrapbook so I thought blogging would be a great thing, which it is and it has become a bit of a hobby for me. My quandary has been that I have not wanted this little hobby to consume me nor did I want to have the guilt of "wasting time blogging". The other thing that has pursued my conscience is not wanting to expolite me or my family.... hard not to do. So I have found a middle ground that has worked for me. For me making my blog more meaningful has increased my blogging pleasure. I hope I do not bore you with my random thoughts or ideas and trust me I do pretned to know all the answers (not even close) but a large part of my quality of life comes from making my life more meaningful in every way. So I wanted to pose a question to you few fellow readers, "WHY do YOU blog?"

Well, I blog to keep my family and friends in the loop, so to speak, with all that we have going on in our life. I live over 2000 miles away from almost my entire family, immediate as well as extended, and I am absolutley horrible about keeping in touch with them all. Blogging is a simple way for me to post "updates" and tidbits of my kids' lives for their grandma's, grandpa's, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.. Add that to the fact that I have never kept a journal before in my life and I do not scrapbook, this is as good as it gets for us, ha ha ha! I try to write down the every day things that so often get swept under the rug in our memories. It is just as much for me as it is for my parents/family/friends.
I blog because I've found that it's a fast way to document the funny little things my kids do. When empty nesters see me struggle with my kids at church or the store they without a doubt always tell me that it just flies by so fast, and they wish they would have enjoyed it more. Blogging helps me to stop for a minute and share with my family & friends what's going on in our day to day lives. I also have a horrible memory so this has been nice for me to get stuff down. I've enjoyed going back and reading stuff that I never thought I'd forgot, but realized I'd totally forgotten! I also think my boys will LOVE reading it one day. I SO wish I had something to read from my childhood. Oh and another reason is that Jason's eighty year old grandma told me that mine and other relatives blogs keep her going every day. That alone is reason enough for me to blog. Blog away!!!
Because I'll never be a journalist, and because my wife kicked me off the other blog.
I blog because it's fun. I am finding that I love to write. I like being able to get a laugh, bring up a discussion or just share something silly. Oh, AND to show of my adorable offspring. I would like to change ths tone of my blog, to maybe be not so silly, but that wouldn't be true to me. I do like Thankful Thursday, and Spriritual Sunday. And maybe in the future, when I can actually be in tune with the spirit, I will share something that touched me, but that will have to wait until Buster goes to nursery. Check out my friends side blog. I really like this idea. I am inspired.

Good question, Jen!! And I have felt the same way as you have. I think blogging is so great because I am recording our family's life memories without having to scrapbook (yay). However, not letting it consume all my time has become something I've had to work on. I don't want it to be a burden. It's a balance I think. I am not the best journal-keeper so I love that we have things recorded about our family that I might have otherwise forgotten. This is why I blog.
Coming from the "older" generation (turning 50 this year), I think blogging is an amazing invention! I grew up with no cell phones and no home computers, and with all new technology there is good and bad. I think journaling, staying connected, sharing ideas and scrapbooking are all great reasons to blog. Keep it up, because I love READING blogs!
I blog because I love it! I love showing off my kids and being able to show them how much I love every little thing about them. I love keeping in touch with everyone and seeing their families. I love that it's free and I can be creative like a scrapbook.(I was never good at scrapbooking) I love your idea about sharing the gospel through it. In our ward, they talked to us about sharing the gospel through the internet, so great idea. I have a lot of work to go on that one though!
I blog because you have been such an inspiration to me with your amazing blogging. I want to leave a treasury for my family as you have done! You are awesome.
