Camping in San Isabel National Forest

Day one (of 3) at Ophir Creek Campgroung - Set up and "DON'T walk in the tent with your shoes on!'

Our hike to the waterfalls at Ophir Creek.

It is truly amazing that babies can get SO filthy in the woods. One might think they literally lay down in the dirt and lick the ground.... wait maybe he did do that :) I couldn't bear it a minute longer and a wilderness bath was mandatory.

You MUST look cute in the Mountains.... But wait Daidy always look cute!

Inspiration at its best.... B thinks movies all the time but this environment sparks more creativity and just at the conclusion of our campfire a bulb in his brain lit up and he was off writing in the spooky forest while the rest of us went to bed.

3 little pee brother boys..... not sure who's pee got on what shoes, I'd rather not know.

#4 can never be too far from her Daddy who "keep me safe" as she says.

Scary Stories about Bigfoot who smells like fish and dirt (inside joke) around the camp fire.

We thought it would be a fabulous idea to go paddle boating around Lake Isabel and have lunch on the lake. What we didn't know was we were really signing up for an hour long spinning class. The wind blew and blew, it was quite the work out! What we thought would be so much fun we spent yelling at each other to hold our lunches before we capsize and wildly maneuvering to the paddle seat to relive the present paddler. It was crazy :) but a funny memory now.

YES, camping is a lot of work, a BIG mess, days of recovery, totally dirty and those are all the reasons we love it! It is so fun playing house in the woods... at least for a few days. I would have been a great pioneer woman.

We went to the most AMAZING place called Bishops Castle and it deserved a post of its own, look below!

Some of my favortie memories as a child were camping with just my family! I can't believe you attempted to give him a bath. I'm just used to have dirty boys, I guess.

You guys are a camping family too!! Awesome!! Maybe we can convince you to get a trailer too! A/C is mandatory for camping in the summer in Texas...but we always camp by water! lot of great camping here!

P.S. LOVE your socks with your flip flops!! Awesome!

Hats off to you because no part of camping is even sort of appealing to me! My idea of roughing it is the marriot, I would have made a crappy pioneer! Looks like you had fun though! Your kids will remember those times forever!

You are so brave to take the two little ones camping. Love the bath tub! So much dirt, but so dang much fun. Colorado has beautiful country and it is so great that you were able to get out into it one last time before heading to Texas.
