The Denver Experiment

Ok, the pressure is mounting to divulge the details of our next adventure. YES, as long suspected it is confirmed we are moving to Austin Texas.

The story goes (if you are interested)......2 1/2 years ago we embarked on an exciting possibility as we considered moving our family to the Denver area to bring on a much needed producing partner (Brady Anderton). 18 months ago we made the move on a little more than faith. I have often looked back to that move and the blindness in which we made the jump and am amazed at our courage, courage unsustainable without faith, it felt a little like we were being pulled here by ropes. At the time there were far more unanswered questions then there were answered ones, we just knew we needed to come. There was an overwhelming feeling that this (Denver)is where we needed to be. We moved into a rental home with our 5 children, the youngest (Sam) being only 5 weeks old. As we settled in we anticipated buying a home here and as badly as we wanted to be settled, we never felt comfy cozy about staying put. We had a silent impression this was right for now and a nagging feeling that it was not a forever place. So as we pursued putting offers in on homes, things kept falling through, until one day on the tails of us rescinding an offer on a home, we started talking about the possibility of moving to Austin Texas. Ben has always wanted to move back to Texas and has always know Austin and surrounding cities (Dallas, Houston and San Antonino all with in a 3-4 hr drive) were big production cities. As the weeks went on, the discussions became more and more serious so we went on a exploration trip to see Austin last February. We came home even more excited about the possibilities. What started out as a little flicker of light, increasingly got brighter and brighter so bright it is burning our eyes, you just can not ignore that kind of confirmation.

People have asked "Why Austin?" and simply put, why not? Austin, in comparison to Denver, is a much larger production city, amongst the more active in the country for movies and advertising. Being that we own a production company (Fueld Films) it would be paramount that we reside in a city that has the market to support this type of business. "Why not LA?" seems to be peoples next question and though LA/California is beautiful and plenty of film work there, it has just never made sense economically. Besides any more you can really live anywhere and "make it" in the film business if you are good enough and Ben has proven in 2 weaker markets (SLC, DEN) that he is good enough! Austin is a very cool city, lush and green, a great place to raise a family and has fertile "film" soil to let our company grow.

Denver has been good to us and remains an active place for us, Ben and his partner will keep an office here to keep relationships ongoing for as long as they need to. So when all is said and done this "Denver Experiment" has been a success, we got what we came here for which was a terrific partner Brady Anderton and now we are moving on to bigger and better things in Austin Texas this summer.

We have made some wonderful friends, some that have felt like family. They will have forever left an imprint on my heart. In some ways I have a broken heart, I will miss these wonderful people so much but will cherish those friendships forever and ever. Something I have said a lot lately is "it is easy to do the hard thing when you know it is right" and this certainly falls into that category. Gratitude oozes from every pour, grateful for so many blessings and especially for a loving Heavenly Father that is constantly keeping us on our toes, growing and learning every stretch of the way :) Thank goodness for blogging, we can all stay connected where ever the winds of divine currents take us.

That's our srory and we are stick'n to it!

Denver, if it only looked that pretty all the time.

We hope to get to know your kids and spend some time with you guys for sure! We are 3 hrs north, in Fort Worth. Keep us posted!! Good camping, rivers, lakes, and water parks--our kids would have a blast together!

Jana and I have been to Austin twice and have said that if we were to ever move from Utah, Austin would be our first choice. Such a wonderful city full of culture and nice people. And good weather.
